Mark your calendars! Milkcrate Records presents “Jazz Nights” 8-10pm Friday April 8th at Muninn’s Post with the sensational jazz vocalist Kinga Heming along with the Trevor Salloum Group (Loni Moger (guitar), Bernie Addington (bass) and Trevor Salloum (drums). Great food, entertainment, door/contest prizes!
Kinga has long established herself as a rather versatile vocalist, with a studied background in both classical and contemporary music as well as classical piano and voice theory by the age of thirteen. Kinga began sharing her gift through recitals and musical competitions shortly thereafter. From pop to jazz, she has gained a true appreciation for the latter and developed great admiration for the jazz greats of yesterday and today.
At Humber College in Toronto, Kinga studied under Trish Colter, Lisa Martinelli, and Lisa Sullivan. She went on to perform with contemporary icons Renee Rosnes and Guido Basso. Fortune followed quickly, and found Kinga lending her vocals to the legendary Don Thompson and his own jazz ensemble, as well as Denny Christianson’s Big Band at Humber College. During this time, she also taught voice, piano, improvisation, and theory lessons.
While living in Ontario, Kinga performed with Juno award-winner Don Thompson, as well as Bill King, Terry Clarke, Jim Vivian, Reg Schwager, Kelly Jefferson, Ted Quinlan and Richard Whiteman. Currently residing in Kelowna, Kinga can be seen at various venues in an around the Okanagan working with some well-established musicians, Neville Bowman, Bernie Addington, Scott Gamble, Loni Moger and Craig Thomson.
Some musical accomplishments include two top 100 finishes at Canadian Idol, a two song duet with legendary Jeff Healey, the singing of the American and Canadian national anthems at MLB, NHL, and NBA games, and the completion of her highly anticipated debut albums.
A Re-release of her “Guess Who I Saw Today”album is set for January 2016.
